Default lights

Last night was the 1st time driving my '90 Hardbody at night, need to replace 1 tag light, 1 parking light, 1 headlight (bright inop), and half of the dash lights not working, couldn't see the speedo at all but the lights for the tach was working fine, so I'm hoping it is just the bulbs. My question is: In order to replace the dash lights does the cluster have to be removed or can I reach back there with my hand?

Look over this thread:

Instrument Cluster Repair w/pics (Part II)

He shows how to swap out the little bulbs.

To get the cluster off, you will need to remove the steering column cover. Getting it OFF and ON is easy, but be very careful when you are putting it back ON. The screws that hold it in place thread into the plastic of the shell, and that plastic is really easy to crack if you crank down at all on it. So, do not get the little screws tight!

Headlights: Replace those in pairs. If you can afford them, get these HELA headlights:

But, new bulbs from Walmart will work great and cost a HELA Lot Less!

I was kind of going for the drool factor.

If I'm going cheap, I'll stick with what works, like these $9 ones:

Sylvania H6054

That's actually what I put in my truck back in 2011, and they have been doing pretty good.

IMHO, if you go through the effort of removing the sealed beam you might as well put in some e code H4 housings. Your eyes will thank you and your level of fustration will be so much lower next time you replace a bulb.

and BE CAREFUL when removing the cluster. the speedo cables like to spit parts everywhere. that is a common problem with the cable driven speedometers. there is a thread here somewhere that covers repairing the cable if that happens. when mine flew apart, i just bought a new cable. it was literally a 45 minute job changing the cable.
