Default How many belts does a 1991 D21 4x4 have?

How many belts in a 91 D21 4x4? And please name and locate them.

Horrible, brief squealing upon engine start up. Subsides immediately. Mechanic, upon quick inspection said x2 belts visible and both nice&tight. He threw some belt conditioner on, but still the noise remains.

Thoughts? Thanks

probably the alternator belt. get a gatorback belt and resize if you are at the end of the adjustment with a new one. (I had to go down . 75" on mine)

its a "feature" of old school, non ribbed style belts. they squeal a wee. you can snug them up a wee if you like. or, alternatively let them squeak for a sec and remember this is a 22+ year old truck and let it go.

EDIT: yours is a 91. yours is 27. its gonna make some noises like a 75 year old man.
