I noted a while back when OGB mentioned not wanting to drive the Hardbody because of a foot/leg injury and now also Cadillac is in the same predic. I'm working on a 5-spd swap for my W201 and you guys have me worried because once that's complete I won't have an auto car should I get bitten by a brown recluse and have a leg amputated.

Dunno if I mentioned it, but I pulled two manual transmissions from two Benzes about two months ago. Right next to each other at the yard too, so me and my buddy didn't have to run across the yard to ask for a hand when we got to the points in the job that were a two man operation.

i had to get my finger sticker and bleed the pressure out from under the toenail. the pain was fucking horrible. at least i can walk and use a clutch pedal again.

havent done anything to the benz yet. it is just way too hot. at 11am today, it was already 92, humidity in the 70 percent rang ewith the dewpoint in the low 70s. just plain miserable. there is a heat advisory for the rest of the week.

i doubt i will be playing remove the fan motor anytime soon LOL

Beautiful scenery to go parts picking for sure.

Man I wish I could find W201 graveyards around here. I'd love to do a 5 spd swap on my car, especially with the auto trans effectively being a 3 speed (4th doesn't work).

While I've got the interior out of my 201, I'm installing an amp, replacing all the speakers, and putting a Pioneer DEH-80PRS in it. Sucker is gonna bump when all that's done.

Nice headunit. What amp and where do you plan on putting it? I've been mulling over audio options for this car since before I've owned it. I have a 2-din in the dash and nice speakers in the corners, but they're still running on headunit power as of now. Have equipment ready to install, just still planning shit out and I drive the Hardbody so much more I don't get to listen to the stereo in this car very often anyway.

I'm removing the first aid kit box from the rear deck (mine is all busted anyway) and am going to mount the amp so that it fits in basically that same spot where the first aid box used to sit. I'm going to hang it upside down on the rear deck. I went with a Skar Audio RP-600.5 (600w, 5 channel), nothing crazy but should be enough to bring out the good qualities of the 80PRS. I had that same head unit in my old Yaris and was a big fan of it. I plan to put one in the hardbody at some point haha.

The OEM becker is still in my car at the moment, it works fine but I've got problems with the speaker wiring. Sometimes it grounds out somewhere and makes this awful squealing that won't stop until you turn the car off. I've got a hundred feet of 14g speaker wire on the way so I can rewire the whole audio system while I'm at it.

Then I'm going to do the same thing to the D21

Nice. I was thinking of putting an amp under the rear seat driver side where there's a decent amount of space, but what would concern me is ventilation. Was also considering putting it where the factory amp is, which is right behind gas door. I want to mount a subwoofer in place of the first aid kit.

Just got a new headunit for the Hardbody which is similar, but current model of the one in the 190E. There's a 10% coupon code on eBay for "tech" luckily most car stereo equip falls under the consumer electronics category which that coupon covers. Might be a good idea to pick up that other Pio today.

I thought about that same spot under the rear seat, but yeah ventilation is what kept me away from that as well. I thought about cutting slits in the metal right under the seat and bending slits out, but I just decided it would be easier to mount it on the deck.

I need to see if mine still has the factory amp in it. Someone had removed the rear speakers (presumably due to the grounding issue I previously mentioned).

Jeez I didn't realize how much 80PRS normally cost. I got the one for my Yaris used from a guy for a steal, then the one I bought for the 190D was on Amazon for $250. Apparently $350 is more like the usual price.

$300 was what I saw on eBay. There was a 10% coupon that day, could have brought it down a little.

Grabbed another 5spd yesterday. Much easier the third time around.
