If I protect the bearings and axles could I just cold cut / grind off the backing plates I'm going to throw away?

Will it work with a C200 axle?

Also, has anyone measured before and after the swap? I can stand narrowing the rear by about 1/2 inch but I can't have it any wider than it is now with the drums.

Converting to discs doesn't make the axle wheel face surface any wider. The thickness of the disc where it mounts to the axle is about the same as the drum.

With 2 sets of brackets and calipers plus longer axle bearing cage bolts and additional spacers do you think dual calipers are possible? Calipers would be 180° apart and second caliper for the other side maybe a hydraulic parking brake?

I already have a dual caliper bracket. Uses the same calipers. $250 shipped for the pair.
