I used a dayco kit. They have been making timing belt components for a very long time.

95 D21 Pickup SE 4x4 3.0 V6 VG30E Help Please! New here and to Nissan.
I have done the timing belt (Gates kit TCK249 w/water pump ) and new Gates hoses and many other parts. The parts replaced were all Nissan originals and in surprisingly good condition.
Everything was lined up correctly… Belt arrow to front, both cam sprockets punches on back cover marks and zip tied with 40 teeth b'twn cam & belt lines. #1@ TDC, crank key @11 o'clock, rotor on @#1 position. Crank gear punch @ 5 o'clock & 43 teeth b'twn driver side cam & crank punch marks. (No notch or any alignment mark present on engine). Everything set, adjusted tension pulley 70 degrees with hex key. Rotated crank a few times checking/adjusting belt tension. (No tension gauge here).
I have rotated the crank so many times and noticed the lines on the belt and cams/crank punches are not aligning? How man revolutions until they sync up again?? Maybe never? Anybody Know?

As long as the 3 timing marks stayed aligned after two complete crankshaft rotations, do not worry about it. I am sure the belt marks will realign at some point, but they are for installation assistance.

Like Caddy said, their purpose is to aid in installation. They’ll line up again eventually but it’s not necessary for you to reassemble the truck.

How do I find "TDC on the compression stroke" after the timing belt is off and everything is already moved around?

If I just move the crankshaft using the bolt and the camshaft sprockets separately by hand, what are the odds of me hitting a valve on a piston?

For those of you who do not follow What have you done to your D21 Today, my harmonic balancer came apart while doing the timing belt job on a 2000 VG33e yesterday >>here<<. During the struggle to remove the harmonic balancer, all 3 parts shifted around.

I would install the timing belt temporarily to move the engine around.
