I'm looking at replacing my current tow rig; so far I've looked at the big 3 and Toyota. The other day I checked out a Titan and had some questions and observations. I've never owned a Nissan truck and would like to be better informed. The deals for the Titans are much better than anyone else and it seems like a good alternative.
They are similar to a Dodge, using a 5 speed auto, lowest tow ratings (about 9500 # each) and have huge rear seats in the CC. Titans have the longest bed available with the CC, but you loose quite a bit of capacity. Also, you get a lot of tech for the money but the fuel mileage sucks; the Tundra tows more, has a bigger engine, but still gets around the same as the Titan. Thing is, I like the look of the Nissan inside and out. How do these trucks tow? My trailer is about 7,000 # gross. How do they handle heavier loads, near their capacities? Has anyone towed heavier than recommended? I've heard bad things, but mostly on Ford blogs. |

i tow with mine all the time.
and ive got 3"drop spindles, 2"drop coils, 3"lowering leafs, 1"drop shackle, and sleeve load bags. still tows like a champ. and i was pleasantly surprised that the fuel economy really didnt change much on the highway when i am pulling vs no trailer. one of the things i did do was put the stillen extra capacity finned diff cover. supposedly these trucks have a tendency to overheat the rear diff when pulling big loads, this will prevent that. so far so good. ![]() ![]() aprox 7500lbs ![]() before the load bags and drop spindles. ![]() |

my buddy pulls his s10 with his. seems like it tows pretty good other than the rear sagging. hes gotta pull some helper bags in to get to sit to level. he will probably pick up a mile or 2 in gas mileage when he does that

I'm looking at an SE Long Bed CC. I've seen them on the road but haven't been able to drive one yet; maybe when I come back from the Mid East I'll get exactly what I want.

If I were going out to get a new truck, it would hands down be a new F-150. Ford really has their shit together.
Not to mention, the 2011's are going to have the new 5.0 and the 23 mpg eco boost v-6, both with 400 hp. Go Ford. Last edited by kaoss; 06-22-2010 at 07:34 PM. |

I own stock in Ford, but a nice 150 is more than the Titan, or a basic HD/Super Duty for that matter. I can't see spending over $40k on a 1/2 ton truck; I can get a Titan for under $33k and have it pull what I need.
Just shopping right now and don't know what I want yet. |

When I went to look at Fords it was stickered at 34k.
Got them talked down to 22k on a 2wd crew cab STX with the 4.6 (5.4 were it's at though, 380 lb-ft of torque, take that Howie and your little underpowered Chevy!) The way I see it, all domestic vehicles are 10k off the sticker price. I bet they will be trying to clear their inventory if the 2011's come out with the new motors. |

I priced out a 5.4 XLT. To be fair the truck was nearly loaded.
There are a lot of domestics sitting on lots but none are what I want (long bed CC 2x4 with the biggest V-8 and towing package). I'd have to order mine and dealers here aren't making any real deals on trucks they have to bring in. |
