The ECUs on the 85 720s have no control over ignition (Dizzy, coils, etc), right? |

Mine is electronically controlled. If you have a z24, yours should be, too. If someone has retrofitted an L20 or something, then I don't know; I have never worked on one of those that I remember.
Why do you ask?

My Z24's wiring looks like it was done by a drunk octopus who got angry and set it on fire. Needs a Weber, wanted to make sure there were no little gotchas that'll come in later.

Haha for what it is worth, I don't think the computer has much input on anything with these engines. The carb has some functions that would not work without the computer, and I do not know how well it would run without it... However, if emissions are of no concern, you only need enough wires to operate the coils.
I probably should elaborate more on the ignition control - it is only to change timing under certain conditions, it is not like a distributor on something 10 years newer. It should have vacuum advance, etc.
