With header wrap you could use metal ties to tie it up. Same now, maybe a little bit of wire would hold it out of the way.

So, how much were the headers off?

I take it when you loosened the bolts, it slid into place. Correct?

It wasnt that simple. I wish it was. I spent an hour with a tiny hacksaw cutting a inner flange off the old exhaust. I didnt shift the headers at all. With the flange gone and 2 gaskets it worked perfectly. Just now have a leak at the segment of y pipe I cut. Gonna fiddle with the exhaust clamp after I get some homework done. If I can get it to seal then I wont get it welded tomorrow.

Update Aug 4 2014. The exhaust shop guy is not open today. He can do it as early as 8AM tomorrow. He said it will cost me $5.00 per joint welded.

And finished! Remflex gasket solved the exhaust leak. The exhaust note is far deeper now. It is just as quiet if not quieter still. It has a neat little burble between shifts or when decelerating. And goes like no mini truck with a VG30i should.

0ish-65MPH run through 3rd gear.

Tried to capture the downshift burble

Tried to do the standard rev thing. Audio may be messed up.

Congratulations!

Yes, my truck is surprisingly quiet now. It also starts on the first crank.

I kept mine.

I also kept all of the emissions stuff - which I think is just the O2 sensor.

So, these have been on about a month.

No paint left, but no rust either. They are freakin' hidden down there! I don't know why anyone would ever worry about chrome headers.
