Default Slotted Lower A Arm

1990 d21 4x4 4 cyl

Replaceing cv axle and ball joints.
Taking it all apart I notice on the lower A arm where the stabilizer bar and bushing bolt the hole is slotted. I would assume it is not supposed to be that way and it is from years of the bushings gone bad.

Thinking of welding the slotted part back and drilling it out. I dont think this should be a problem?

Should not be slotted. Welding it should work fine.
