Unhappy New guy on the fence

I'm in Texas, my 86.5 D21 is in Colorado with a broke tranny.... what should I do once I get it here?
Replace/rebuild manual tranny or (since it is a weak engine z24i) pull engine install an updated engine and transmission??????????????
THOUGHTS?

Welcome to infamous nissan! If you are gonna swap the engine and transmission you might as well do a 350 or something. There isn’t enough of a difference in power from the Z24I to the other engines to make it worth the effort. I’d just try to find another transmission from a junkyard or from somebody parting out a truck.

You have gone beyond my limits, I have no clue about 4wd and motor swaps. DVDSwan will probably be your best bet. He did an LS swap but many other custom things as well. Not sure if he kept any of the origional drivertrain.

For starters you can look here but mainly 2wd stuff, you might see a 4x4 guy reply and see if they have a build thread.
