Awesome truck man. I'm planning a sbc swap as well.

Finally got the truck back. While it was in trans jail for a long time, I will say it is not all due to the trans shop. They built the first trans, no fluid, assuming I was getting right on it. I put none in, assuming it didn't need it. Trans rusted up solid inside. It's a wet heat here, lol... I had another trans in the stash, but the valve body had the usual 700r piston hanging up. The valve body was removed, sent to the machine shop, where they promptly reamed the hole too deep for the bushing, and busted the valve body. 3 used valve bodies later, I bought a complete new GM one, then the trans guys wife had major medical issues requiring a long hospital stay, which brings us to the end of the 9 month delay...

I have a battery drain with the key off, and something in the wiring for the alternator to figure out, and probably a radiator swap, then body and paint/wheels. Due to the electrical gremlins the test drive was short, but verryyy sweet....

I love usually the second or third test drives the best, the first fest drive for me has always had a gremlin appear. Nice to see you could drive it.

This was the second one. The first one is when I found the trans had crapped out, I got to do all the gears this time, lol...

How much was the cowl hood for the hardbody and where did you get it from? I've been looking for one to put on my efi 5.0 5speed swapped truck

Sorry, I just saw this. I got it from Unlimited Products. I have not yet test fitted it. I will say the other one I got for the LUV is crap, and I been steadily working on that one to get it to fit. I hope the D21 is better. They were the only ones I could find in a bolt on...

Minor update. I got another pig tail for the alternator, the one I had only had one wire, needed 2. Installed it it is charging now, so a road test commenced. With a stock chip for a non vortec tbi and no tuning whatsoever, it runs pretty good. I got to see if I got the battery drain issue corrected with the alternator repair. Not much else is going to happen until I get my current shop project out of the way...

Felt so good I made another test run, lol... Actually, the fuel gauge was low on first run, I was pretty sure it worked, so I went to the station (That is like 20 miles round trip, lol) and got 5 gallons and poured it in, Yep, gauge works. Decided to make another trip, ran smoother the further it went. Temp gauge got a little over halfway, and it is fairly nipply, so I see a radiator core mod and a larger rad in the future...
