Default Project MULLET

95 Xcab V6 4x4
Picked up with spare complete drivetrain. Plans are to rebuild the spares and install. Wanting to do a lift kit to upgrade suspension so why not lift it too. Fab front and rear bumpers with the classic roll bar in the bed. Kind of wanting to do a 90s build because that was my time.

She is rough around the edges but Iím trying to bring her back. I love these trucks itís the 4 D21 i have owned

I have been doing work on it all weekend. New brakes, oil change, new plugs, and some random stuff.

Issues I’m dealing with:

Fuel gauge after filling truck up with slowly go to 1/2 tank. Now I’m going to check today since it’s nice and no rain. To make sure the tank isn’t leaking when I put fuel in it.

Only other thing is Passenger side front is sagging 2 inches or more. I was reading about and going to check if PO screwed with the TB trying to lift the truck that way or just a uneducated young kid messing with things.

When I bought mine, passenger side was sagging 4 inches. I guess the torsion bolt had turned bunch and you could see the mark on the torsion bar where it was supposed to be. Just cranked it back, and no issues a couple years later.

Good luck, I'm currently bringing a 93 back from the dead. Also sticking with a late 90's early 2000's build since that's when I originally owned the truck the first time. Can't wait to see your progress. You should start a thread in the project build log section and we can all follow along.

Way to go, SE V6 4x4's aren't all that common and it looks like it might have the factory sunroof as well! If I had to bring one back from the edge, this is what I'd start with. Your truck looks like it's already been lifted higher than stock. To avoid alignment issues and a hard ride, you might need longer upper control arms.

Keep the pictures coming and let us know how we can help.

Thanks everyone and yes truck has the factory sunroof. She has been through some neglect over the years. Seemed to be taller that most stock ones i have seen over the years. I have been looking for almost 2 years for a 4x4 and have had like 8 deals fall through. People not wanting to answer or tell them I’m coming with cash and next thing I know it’s sold.

I was looking at lifting it and completely going through the suspension with all new components. Seen tubular uppers some with good and some with bad reviews. So doing research. I want to replace both rear leaf spring packs with new ones. Trying to find any that are lifted or I’ll go stock replacements and then lift.

This is the 1st d21 i have been in with electric options all but seats. But the driver seat has lumbar and the latch up front by the door to raise and lower the front half of the seat.

Currently make it DD ready and I’m making a parts list, also going to look into building my spare motor hopefully by end of summer before winter time frame.

Truck did take a little hit in the front no major damage so that’s first on the plate. After a good time up, front end alignment, and get a radio installed.

Nice straight bumper installed, and radio sitting there got to find a wiring harness for it.

I thought you said you were going with a tube bumper up front? LOL - plans change, huh?

Hang on to that camper top. If you put a roll bar back there, you won't be able to use it again, but companies don't make camper tops for Hardbody trucks anymore. Occasionally, you find someone who really, really wants one.
