Default Rwd vs 4wd brakes

Is there a difference in front rotors and calipers between the rwd and 4wd d22s?

D22 of D21 you mean?

Hardbody 2WD has single piston caliper fronts, 4WD have dual piston caliper fronts. That's about all I know. Both drum style in back.

Wanting to find out about the d22s - possibly going to do the front brake swap on my HB so I'm trying to figure out what I can make fit.

This might be helpful (D21 conversion).

Check the service manuals for the D22's, I just looked at the 98 Frontier manual and it shows both the 2 and 4wd use the same caliper which is a 2 piston caliper, model CL28VD

The rotor for the 2wd (98 Frontier) is 250mm x 22 mm thick, the 4wd uses a 277mm x 26mm rotor.

The 99 Frontier V6 uses same caliper, model CL28VD and the rotor is a 277mm x 26mm.

Does not show 2 or 4wd for the 99

There is a difference in feel for sure. It's an easy mod that I feel is worth it, especially if you have to replace your calipers anyway due to issues with the old ones. I use mine for autocross and I tax the brakes pretty hard sometimes, it's nice to know I have the added headroom so I can push the truck harder through the cones.
