That is typical. It is a double roller bearing. Two roller bearings in a one-piece double outer race. It's one assembly. The replacements even had seals. Much like a unit bearing.
The wheel bearings are greased. There is an oil seal at the end of the housing that keeps the gear oil away from the bearings. Then there is a grease seal between the bearing and the backing plate.
It's unlike any domestic axle I've ever worked on.

Was over 100mph on a hard 3rd gear pull! Scary noises!!!

Says SR20DET in his profile.

Added more timing. Went 180ish miles on 12 gallons at 12 degree BTDC. I'm at about 14.5-15 BTDC night now. Its much more peppy now!

Anyone else ever watch the timing on one of these as the motor is revved? Moves around a ton as the ECM does its stuff.

I have always wondered about that. Just for the hell of it I will try it next time I need to set the timing. I may also try it on my newer car with coil packs and a wasted spark system just to see what it does.

I think there is a vacuum advance on the distributor or the newer ones are electronically controlled.

It has to do that, otherwise you wouldn't get spark in the cylinder fast enough as the engine gained in revolutions per sec.

You are correct. I think the 86-89 models have a vacuum advance but 90-97 models with multiport EFI are fully electronic. My 1990 KA does not have a vacuum advance for the distributor. I have noticed that with other vehicles from that time period too, not just nissans. For instance the 87 Ford van 302 I used to have had multiport EFI and no vacuum advance, but a slightly older one would. I actually want to try this out on my 1998 and 99 model cars just to see the computer in action, even though there is no distributor to adjust.

No vacuum advance on mine. Its all electronic. Did something change around 87-89?

My buddy said he saw at least 30BTDC under throttle and the other side of 0 then letting off. It was cool to watch.
