since this is the most active thread. anyone ever try 4l80e in their swap? I've got a lm7 that I'm going to turbo and was wondering how much trans tunnel has to be cut or should I just settle for a "bulletproofed" 4l60e for the smaller body size?

4l80e is a transmission?
lm7 is an engine?

i wanted to say the engine is lm7 so someone doesn't think I'm trying to put a 4l80 behind the stock engine lol. I really don't want to make a new trans tunnel but I don't want to hang the 4l80 so low it will hit stuff because the truck is pretty low already.

Just googled LM7. OK, that's the LS engine in truck form.

You are going to have a lot of work just getting all of that V8 in there and finding headers that will fit.

You really should not need a turbo on top of that. The V8 should have more than enough power to get the tires spinning at just about any speed. A turbo would just be wasted money.

I have a 4l80 in one of my v8 Luv trucks. I modded a tunnel section out of a 78 Chevy truck into it. I feel confident that the d21 will need tbe tunnel modded as well. It is a tight fit with 700r4 in mine...

Speaking of motor swaps, got my motor in the truck. Only got electrical, fuel, fluids, front diff timing, and skid plate left to do.

After running an exhaust gone from before the muffler for a long time, finally put a muffler on. Thrush turbo with a turn down. Just couldn't handle the 60 to 70 mph drone in the cab any longer. That is most of my 100 mile a day weekly run. Nice to be able to listen to the radio at a decent volume. Forgot how bad wind noise was though. Next thing to fix.

A bulletproofed 4l60e should be fine unless you are going for huge numbers.
