Yeah, those little 720 diesels are really really weak though. IIRC they made less than 80hp. The turbo diesels that were used in the D21 (TD27 or something like that) overseas made around 100hp and something like 150 torque (I can't remember the exact numbers, I looked it up before deciding to use the 617). The 617 I'm using makes 120hp/170 torque so it'll be a little bit of a boost compared to the engine that normally came in the D21 but is a huge increase over the 720's diesel.

New to board.
1994 Nissan TD27 Turbo Diesel restoration project. Bought from importer in TX.
87,000 Miles
4WD Automatic Right Hand Drive. PS, PW Heat and A/C
Partial frame off restoration
New Tires/Rims, Front and Rear Bumper (aftermarket, rear bumper modified to fit)
Leveling Kit
Custom in-bed toolbox painted to match
Custom running boards/rock sliders.
Light bar
New (re-wrapped dashboard)
New Interior - cloth seats and all carpet replaced
Aftermarket single DIN stereo with bluetooth

Biggest challenges: Custom rear bumper and finding reasonably priced rear OEM replacement window/door gaskets, glass runs. Non-OEM gaskets do not fit well. In general, any parts that are right-hand drive specific are hard to find and expensive.

It's probably the nicest one I've seen. Any interior pics?, Is it for sale, price?

Need rear glass runs Nissan part 8233020G01 and 8233120G01. Can order from Japan parts houses but >$200/each, ouch. Ordered a set out of UAE but package never arrived. Ones from Thailand off eBay do not fit well.

Thanks. Will post more pics and interior pics soon. No, not for sale.

I keep wondering if a few US-side-of-the-road diesel trucks made it to the USA. I have been racking my brain on this one, because about 35 years ago, I was working new home construction for an outfit based near Seattle. When I got promoted, they gave me the use of a Datsun diesel truck and it wasn't RHD. Just standard bed, base thing, AM/FM radio, no goodies.

Can't remember the exact year it was, but it had the four headlight setup. It was probably a 1980 model. White truck, not that it matters. Gutless thing for sure, too. No turbo. All I can remember about the damn thing was switching on the glow plugs, turning the key, and it started every time...had four headlights...was designated either Datsun or Datsun-Nissan on the tailgate. Two wheel drive, and steering wheel on the USA side, as they say.

A year after they started letting me take it home, use it on the job etc, the housing project I was working on was completed. Next project was WAY FAR from my house, so I turned in the truck and quit my job. I wish I could remember more about it, but that was a long time ago.
