As for the hunting on the engine, have you looked in the Service Manual? I know the older versions have a section on hunting and all of the things to check, but it does not seem like the 1996 or 1997 do. It seems they rely on diagnostic tools to solve issues instead of checking the components.

Did I post the link to that service manual for you in a previous thread? It seems like I did that about a month ago. There aren't many people with newer OBD2 trucks with hunting issues that I post the older manual for.
Iím trying to replace them all, just canít get screws loose. Truck runs great, other than the hunting/surging at idle. Then goes to running fine. Then jumps to 1300-1500 rpm. Rinse and repeat. Does it with A/C off and seems worse with it on. Goes down the road just fine, all rpmís. Even coasting in N, it will idle about 1000 without jumping around.
