Default Does your truck Have this???

I have crudely drawn in where the "L" beam on the rear of my frame is. Curious as to who else has this, or was this added at some point by a Previous owner?

It sits right under the rear bumper. Making a great place to hold my trailer wires up but also makes a horrible shelf that catches all the debris that I try to push out of the truck bed.

NOBODY???
I know the pic is small but it's hard to get pics to load on this site for me. The description is pretty clear though. 2"-3" L beam welded to the bottom of the frame, at the bumper>

That looks like a lot of added weight back there.

looks like someone before had the idea to make the rear end hold a heavy load without putting on an actual receiver.

So, you think it's adding strength to the bumper?
Could it also be stiffening my frame, causing it to push in corners?

Think it was added to provide strength to the hitch or ball mount, hard to see what you actually have from the pic, Do not think it would stiffen the ride as the rear leafs are still mounted stock and this L channel would have no connection the the rear suspension.

I know it's not connected to the suspension, I was wondering if it taking "flex" out of the frame. In the line of: Adding more "rungs" to a Ladder frame, makes it stiffer or more rigid.
