That's good info! Euro/Nismo cams should be a nice little bump.

Been awhile since an update. Had gotten the block and heads back from the shop, apparently 2 weeks after they had finished. (I don't know what it is with shops in MN, not the first time I hadn't been called after work was done)
Got, mostly, everything put back together. Few things here and there. My order from summit for headers was delayed another couple weeks, so I put in the order with another company. Wish I could order directly from pacesetter, looks like they are in stock. This is what I've been working on in the meantime. Schneider 256H cams: 256 @ .420" That was for $230 after sending them my VG30 cam cores. I was thinking I had the mild USDM cams but later learned that my JDM engine probably had the Euro versions. I don't know how 256 @ .420" compares to 262 @ .393" (less duration with more lift -vs- more duration with less lift) but it was certainly better than the US VG33 244 duration @ .366" lift.

Haven't been on for a bit. To give an update, this us where the truck stands.
Got the engine in with a new clutch. Getting the diff back up was a real pain. Note to others: if you relocate the filter to the front it won't clear a steering damper. I plan on relocating it a little lower to see if that works. In the meantime I'll just take it off. The headers still have not come in. Last I heard it was pushed back to the end of this month. Wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed back even farther. Since I need to leave the state to get to my next job, I just put the manifolds back on with the hacked up downpipes. Now I just have to fill it up and start it. From what I read, to prime the oil, I leave out the spark plugs/fuel pump relay and crank it intermittently until the light goes off. Put it back together and I should be good to start it. Am I correct? I was short on coolant, I've got some getting picked up for me. Until then I'll work on putting in the dome light I got from Hardbody92 and the front speaker i took out of my car before I sold it. So close I can almost hear it! |

Hell yeah man!
What clutch and headers did you go with? My 6 puck can be rather interesting at times and occasionally I scare the girlfriend with it. She isn't nearly the fan of wheel spin that I am! I was thinking of doing a steering damper on my truck. How close is the filter interference?
