Tire for base 1991 d21

I need to replace the tire on my truck. The originals were 195/75 R14, is it ok if I went with 195/70 r14. I don't have the money right now to change wheels although I would like to go to 15

Best way would be to upgrade to a 15" tire, 14's are getting harder to find and most are usually trailer tires.


You can find stock 15" wheels in Aluminum or steel from local junkyards or on places like FB marketplace.


You are also not limited to just the pickup wheels as the Pathfinder wheels,xterra (early years) and early Frontiers all use the same bolt pattern (6 on 5.5"). Toyota, Mazda and early Chevrolet trucks also used the same bolt pattern.


To answer you question, the 195/70/14 would be about an inch smaller in diameter (25.5" vs 24.7"), width is the same, speedometer would read about 2 MPH over the actual speed.

Thank you for the website. So the rim size that I would look for would be 15x7.5 right?

Believe the steel wheels are 15x6 see web site below, widest factory wheel would be a 7". Nice thing about OEM wheels are they will be the correct offset or back spacing so the tires will fit and not stick out which can cause rubbing depending on the tire size.


Also keep in mind some wheels when going from steel to aluminum, may require a different lug nut type.
