Default Blinking red light...HELP

Went out to start my truck and it wouldn't start. Hooked up some cables, still won't even begin to turn over. I noticed there is a blinking red LED next to my hazard lights, also a clicking sound that sounds like turn signals coming from the steering column. Never seen it before. What does this mean. Google search yields nothing, and I can't search this forum on my phone for some reason.. I was about to finally get it inspected and on the road. What's this light?

It looks like an alarm light of some sort. The one that blinks on newer cars while they're locked. Have I somehow triggered an immobilizer if some sort?

Disconnected the battery cable, gonna try again in 20 minutes

No luck. Goes right back to clicking and flashing

It sounds to me like the hazards are just stuck on. Mine used to do that on occasion until I pulled the hazard switch and gave it a good cleaning. As for it not starting, do any of your accessories work when you turn the key? If not, it could be the ignition switch. It is a common failure item.

Hi Riff,
Form your description, it appears that you have an alarm that has been activated.
Look around under the driver's side f the dash for a push button switch. Normally the button will be about the size of a pencil eraser, most reputable shops will mount it in the driver's kick panel, or in the fusebox door, or n a bracket under the driver knee panel. IF you find a button follow this set of steps
1. turn key to ignition position
2. within 5 seconds of ign on press and release the valet switch 1 time.
3. in about 7 seconds the clicking will stop,
4. turn ign to start,
if start is successful then you have manually disabled the alarm. At this time you should consider dropping the driver's knee panel to locate the alarm. Typically removing the main input fuse or unplugging the harness from the alarm will permanently disable it, but proper procedure would be to cut it out and solder the starter inhibit wire to restore the stock circuit.
IF you manage to disable the alarm with the valet switch, you could locate the alarm module, get the model number and pick up a replacement remote. You will need t program the remote to the alarm, but that is pretty trivial.
Good luck.

Ok, tried to post an update, but it didn't go through. I checked under the dash, and there is a little on/off switch right beside the OBD port. Doesn't look OEM to me. I turned it to off, andvtge truck started right up, but the little light stayed on. Then flipped it back to on, and the light went off. The little red LED is beside my hazard switch above the A/c controls in the dummy panel. Do you guys have this switch, or this light? I can't find anything about it online. I think I'm dealing with some sort of aftermarket alarm or some device of some sort.
Thanks for the responses!
Here is the switch

That definitely sounds like some sort of aftermarket alarm system. I'd probably just yank all that stuff out and set the truck back to the way it's supposed to be, personally.

To post images, you put the img tag at the beginning and end of the URL, like this:

Yes, that switch is aftermarket, and the led is also aftermarket.
The safest thing to do would be to pull everything out and return the truck to stock, as OGB stated. At least you got it running.

Yeah, I'll do that this weekend. Hopefully tearing it out doesn't cause more problems. I'm going to trace this around and try to figure out what it is. I'm guessing an alarm, but I heard no horns or anything. Just a repeating click that sounded like a relay in the steering column. Sounded just like turn signals, but no lights on. Just a "tink tink....tink tink" like I just flipped my blinker. Thanks a bunch guys.

If you don't want to rip everything out right away...just find the GROUND wire for the whole thing and disconnect it. Then tape the end.

Temp solution maybe. If you have failures from doing that, hook it back up. But you probably won't.
