Exclamation 91 hardbody 4cyl engine stopped

so I have a 1991 nissan hardbody 4cyl and I was driving and could here a slight knocking coming from the engine. Then about 2 minutes after that the engine locked up and wont turn over, I checked the oil and there is no metal in it. What do you guys think it could be

Something happened that is for sure, I'd guess that you had a bearing failure or perhaps a connecting rod failure.

Exclamation nissan hardbody 4cyl engine locked

so I was driving down the road and it started to form a slight knock then about 2 minutes later the engine locked up and now it just makes a thud when I try to start it. I checked the oil and there is no metal in it. What do you guys think it could be

Will the engine turn over with a ratchet on the crank bolt? Will it roll in neutral? Did you drain the oil or just looking on the dipstick?

Going to need to dig in an do a bit more post mortem - too much missing info at the moment.

fun fact...........i had an alternator on my old freightliner columbia semi lock up one time. it was seized so hard, the tractor would not roll start. that was one locked up alternator.

the engine wont turn over and I did drain the oil I also made sure that I didnt bend a valve
