Default Mazda 3 stereo install

Posted some of these pics in another thread, going to start a new one,

Install in my wife's 2012 Mazda 3 sedan, I bought Kicker 6x8's for the front doors, and a Sony double Din headunit.

I saw on Youtube a video where the guy used the stock speaker, modified as a spacer, using the stock plug to connect to the new speaker.

Stock (used from junkyard speaker)
front:

rear:

after removing the cone and center and attaching new speaker wire that will go to the new speaker:

center part that was removed:

new speaker in spacer for test fit (mounting holes line up perfect:

I picked up 1" nylon spacers to fll the gap between the new speaker tabs and the old screw location, had to drill them out to fit the new longer screws:

Pass. side speaker installed, with spacers (white), fit perfectly and magnet just clears the metal brace in the doors:

Head unit is next, maybe tomorrow, have to run a 10 gauge wire to the battery for the headunit power as it puts out 45 watts per channel

Found a place to run the power wire through the firewall, the auto trans cars have a large plastic plug where the clutch master would go, I drilled a small test hole and ran a piece of wire through into the engine compartment to see if I could see the wire, I could, so I made the hole bigger for the 10 gauge I'm using.

The Sony headunit puts out 40 x 4 100 watts x4 peak so it needs a direct power connection to the battery, I ran the 10 gauge from the battery into the car, I'm using a fuse holder I pulled from the junkyard one day, it's the older glass fuse type.

I found a length of wire with a ring terminal already on it, and connected it to the positive terminal (fuse out for now of course), I connected the wire to the fuse holder and made a notch in the plastic battery box for the wire to sit in.

not a big day so far, pics later.

Just connected the radio harness to the steering wheel adapter harness, I soldered the wires and added heat shrink, tied the harness together with wire tie wraps, put the kit together and mounted the head unit:

Head unit, Sony WX-GS920BH:

Mic, ran cable behind the trim panel than under the rubber:

Ran the wired USB plug into the center console, there was an auxillary jack there for the factory radio, since it no longer worked I removed the jack assembly, took it apart ( the center came out luckily) and I ran the new USB cable through it, had to drill a small hole for a tie wrap to prevent the cable from falling back inside the console:

The auxiliary jack part I removed:

Install came out good, no wires visible, all I have to do is get the proper amp fuse for near the battery, supposed to be a 15-20 but all I had was a 40. I may replace the fuse holder with a Maxi fuse holder as they are easier to find (especially at the junkyard), I have an AGU glass fuse holder in there now.

I'm going to look into getting separates for the front doors and I'll put the Kicker 6x8's into the rear doors.

I ordered a new fuse holder for near the battery, I was using a AGU glass fuse holder, but it seems those fuses are getting hard to find, so I ordered a 8 gauge Maxi fuse holder.

If I ever put the amp my buddy gave me (Precision power A600 150 w x2) in her car for some subs, I'll run a larger power cable.

Going to measure her trunk width and my old Kicker brand box to see if it may fit
