Cool Newcomer from NC

Newcomer here from NC. Had a 350z back in the day, and a nice 5spd maxima when I was like 17. Always been a huge fan of Nissan. I just sold my SRT8 to get out of a car payment and full coverage insurance. So, I got into a clean ass 1997 little black manual HB with 160k, a.c., and NO RUST for $1500. Always loved mini-trucks in general. I chose the hardbody because a) I love Nissan, and b) it's the only older mini with any balls under the hood. Ka24 is a nice engine with a ton of aftermarket support. I digress, I have a ? for the experts. I plan on taking a different direction than just slamming it. I saw the "is the nissan hardbody a 240 in disguise" video on YouTube, and really dug the wheel and tire setup on that truck. It still looks like a truck, but sporty at the same time. I can't decide if I think he's running 15's or 16's and a 50 or 55 series tire. I'd like mine to look like his, just a bit lower. Been lurking on here for a bit, trying to do research and look at pics, ect. But I just can't decide what tire and wheels he's running. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Check out the beginning of the vid and lemme know what you think. Thanks in advance https://youtu.be/cNDSmkCTkbE

Welcome to the forums! Those look like American Racing steelies to me (or one of the many fakes/reproductions of them). Have fun with your little truck, there's a ton of stuff you can do to them!

Thanks bros. Glad to be here. Yes, that's what I'm discovering, there's endless possibilities with these trucks.

Now, do you guys think his wheels are 15's or 16's?

And what about the tire sizes? It looks like a 50 or a 55 series tire to me.
Maybe a 225/55?

What do you guys think?

I would guess those are 15x8 wheels with probably a 60 or maybe 55 series tire....... but that is strictly a guess.
Let us know what you decide to do, and post up some pics.

Alright guys. I found the wheels he has, or an identical replica, and I think I'll go with these cheapies:

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/v...BoCMlwQAvD_BwE

They're 17x8 with a -12 offset. Hopefully that will get me close to the same poke he has.

I think I'll go with a 235/55r17. What do you think? I think that will get me close to the stance I want after I lower it. I think these wheels will fit without mods, right? I've seen them on several hardbody

I'll post 10 bazillion pics when I'm done. Lol. TIA

Welcome to Infamous Nissan. Unlike those other (*coughs politely*) Nissan websites, the folks around this village actually WILL try to help you with anything Nissan-related.

We're all big fans. My previous Nissan/Datsun rigs have been a 610 2-door with a Weber carb and the L20-B truck engine, an 810 I liked but didn't keep for long, more of the 70's Datsun trucks than I can remember, (if they weren't L20-B's when I got them, they certainly WERE when I SOLD them lol) an old 720 truck KC diesel my company allowed me to take home for two years, (suckers, they even gave me the company fuel card and I bought a bunch of gas cans and stored diesel for vacations driven for FREE) and my personal favorite, a 74 720 truck where I stripped off the bed and replaced it with a lightweight flatbed rig (wood) that extended out four extra inches on each side. Really...I should have kept pictures but the frickin internet wasn't even invented when I owned these things.

You will like it here. Sometimes members even invite each other to campouts or other Nissan-related gatherings. And there are some REALLY smart people here for your Nissan questions. As far as the D21, if you ever got it perfect, you'd probably sell it and get another one just to have something to do on weekends modifying or working on it.

Look like 15" wheels with something like 255/60/15 tires.

You should get in touch with Foul_Mouth. He drifts his Hardbody.

He's on YouTube a lot, too: https://www.youtube.com/c/NissanTruckguy

Thanks Sci-fi and JP! I'm stoked to be here.

And JP, I just saw that dude on YouTube last night. Lol. That little green HB looks dope af with those slicks on it.

Thanks for the help about the tires, I watched the video carefully, and he says they're 15's. He also says the tires are "a little fatter than stock" you think 255's would fit no problem? I'm going back and forth now between thinking it's a 65 or a 70 series. Going to look up your suggested tire size right now. I'm driving myself crazy obsessing about this setup, and if I can make it look better with 16's or 17's, and a thousand other questions I have before blind ordering wheels and tires.
