My wife gave me a kirby attachment that has spinning brushes as it vacuums. That shit will stir up the dirt from the factory. I also use it on a whole house vacuum that i converted to the garage vacuum.

mine was so nasty i pulled seats and took carpet to high pressure carwash and blasted it with soap and water and let it dry for couple days. came out like new.

i once saw on a tv show they stripped carpet then took it to a carswash and since it was that plastic backed junk (molded/formed?) they just hit it with the power wash wand and then let it dry. I did that with the trunk panels in my accord once when dad spilled like 4 gallons of teriyaki sauce and it worked really well.
