Default What is the deal with old dudes and their yards?

I live on a cul de sac out in the county, so the only people that really see my yard are the guy that lives next to me and the guy that lives across from me. Both of them have whined and complained "you don't mow often enough" "you should pick up all these sticks" "y u no get rid of all these weeds" etc. etc. My dad was kinda picky about his yard when I was growing up, but our next door neighbor's yard always looked like a jungle (that dude mowed maybe like once a month) and dad never went over there telling him what to do with his property.

I just don't get it. I got a relatively large yard so I could shoot guns and do donuts, romp ATVs and have camp fires. I didn't get a big yard just for the sake of mowing it. What's the deal? Why do people care so much?

i guess they have nothing better to do, so they get in some beeswax LOL

i live in the city limits, and if someone complains, you will get a letter in the mail. if the complaints keep coming, they will send a crew to cut your grass and send you a big fat bill.

That's actually pretty common, and it's one of the main reasons I chose not to live in the city. A lot of subdivisions won't allow you to park cars in the driveway or on the side of the road. Some of them go so far as to regulate what color your blinds and/or curtains can be. Crazy. I bought a house out in the county specifically to avoid that kind of junk.

I would stomp out that fire rather quick. Next time they bother you say something like 'hey sounds like I found me a volunteer! Why are you standing around, chop chop!". I hate nosey neighbors, I try to make it unpleasant for them.

I used to have a nice yard till the people on each side decided not to give a "f" and let weeds grow which in turn infested my yard. Now I need to dig it up and lay out new.

My guess is they are retired or it is their hobby to show off.

Because their yards are so perfect they literally have nothing else to do with their time. I used to live across from a couple of guys like that. They hated each other's guts though which made it pretty entertaining. They both loved to call the city to complain about stupid shit like that. One guy called the cops on me twice, both times for the same thing (working on a vehicle in my driveway). The first time the cops didn't even get out of their car and the second time they told him not to waste their time anymore (it was a noise ordinance complaint and it was a good 2-3 hours before quiet time).

Needless to say when I decided to junk the car I was trying to fix I made sure to leave it on the street in front of his house with the transmission hanging out for a few days until the tow truck could come take it to its final resting place (public property ftw). Oh yeah, and that guy was one of the higher ups at the city's private school. The second time I wanted to yell "public school mutha******!!!" and throw a large wrench through the windshield of their Volvo station wagon lol.

And yes, their yard is beautiful and perfectly manicured.

a big 4wd sitting on 31s would tear that yard up nicely.

a guy i worked with did that and i went with him as a set of extra eyes. someone his wife worked with was fuckin with her hard. one night after it rained, his yard got trenched by a lifted chevy truck sitting on a 6 inch lift with TSL boggers.

funniest thing i have ever seen.
