Default Old car/truck metal dash???

Anyone here did the dash swap from an old car or truck??? I like the impala and 57 Chevy dashes but they are a bit overdone IMO. I thought about making my own but don't think I could fab up something that i'd be happy with. Post up some pics, I'd like some inspiration to swap mine out for something unusual.

if you made one out of metal would you paint it or wrap it in vinyl/cloth etc? (I had a couple of 57's so I know the dash) just curious

I've seen a 55 to 57 Chevy truck dash used once in a hardbody. It looked really good. I'm thinking of using 60-66 c10 dash. It's about 5 1/2" too wide. But I think enough room to trim out that extra metal will work.

There's an old (are there new?) car talk show where they waxed prolific about the (I think) '63 dart metal dash.

Around 2000 I frequented a ford truck forum, and somebody there built their own full metal dash, gauges and all. They used aluminum diamond plate for the superficial parts, not sure about the structural parts. They had a glove box, radio, custom gauges. Pretty neat. I don't think that forum exists anymore, though. Probably had pics hosted by photobucket or geocities.

Definitely going to need to look at the donor and plan this out on your own a bit - look for something with easy places to section out the extra width. After that its alllllll custom.
