Default The English Language

I have seen and heard this many times...
I "changed out" my spark plugs. WTF??

Isn't the act of "Changing" enough? "Changing out" seems to be redundant... Yes?
I "changed" my spark plugs.
That should be enough to describe that chore.

How about this one?
Tuna "FISH".
Isn't the only thing in the world - Tuna - a fish?
Now I can understand a "Cat" fish... There is a cat and a Cat Fish...

How many ways can the word "live" be used?
A "live" broadcast...
I "live" for today
I have a "live" turtle in my bath tub...

??

Like a new term for "adult children"

Like a new term for "live at home". Which brings to mind: I live at home, home is wherever I live. And if a homeless person's "adult children" live with him/her, do they "live at home" ?

When a ball comes flying into the stands, why do people yell "heads up" instead of "heads down" ?

Criminal mastermind

Friendly fire

I’m more confused than a homeless person on house arrest !!!

English is the linguistic equivalent of that meal you make once a month with all the crap in your fridge that's about to expire.

Here's another..
"Swap out"

Isn't swapping similar to changing??
If you swap something, you replace it with something else, no?

I'd (simply) swap my 4 cylinder engine for a V6.

I don't have to swap it "out", because that's part of the swap process.

Cut it out!!!!

How about this one?
"Cut on" the light.
Now that is a total WTF!!

It also flips me out when people call their vehicle a "she" or "her".

Now I can understand 'B*tch" when the vehicle acts up, but I feel it's an insult to the female gender calling a truck "She".
C'mon people - really.

"Needs replaced" ie. Ball joints need replaced, I see that shit all the time and it makes me want to open a black hole to swallow the Earth.

^^^^ !!!!!

Finishing up....
Can you finish down?
Don't you just finish???

I was watching a weather broadcast in Albany New York.
The guy came on and said that the rain was going "on off" to the East...
Huh? "On off"? Really?

How about "sleep in"
Now what the hell does that mean?????
Sleep in your room? Sleep in a bed? Sleep on the floor?
Man.
Get a grip.
