What brand is it? Does it say what resolution the screen is? IMO if the display is anything less than 1920x1080, I'd get something different. If it has a decent screen though, those specs are definitely not bad for the price. The USB port count is a little low for my taste but probably fine for most people.

Brand will also make a difference on the longevity of certain components, namely the system board, display, and battery.

I with held the brand as I want opinions based on the specs, display is
17.3-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-Glare LED-Backlit Display

My laptop has been acting up lately, freezing and errors, it's a Dell running Vista, so I think it's time for an upgrade ! LOL

As long as you're aware of the differences the brand makes, the specs look good.

Depending on the model of your dell, a SSD and Win10 will go a long way to breathe new life into an old dog. My primary laptops are a Dell Latitude E6400 (came with Vista, now has SSD + Win10) and a Dell Precision 4600 (came with 7, now SSD + Win10).

Just my experience, depending on what you're doing with it and how long you want it to last, buying a decent brand's business line will get you a device that lasts longer and is easier to work on. I've had probably about 40 laptops in the last 15 years and IT is my day job. My IBM G41 from 2005 still works fine, I just recently retired it as it's 32 bit and that's a dying architecture. I've got HP Probooks from around 2007/2008 in my garages now for shop computers.

That being said I've owned everything from the crappiest of Acers to top of the line $2k+ devices. They're kinda like cars, as long as you know the limitations and use em how they're made to be used you can make just about anything last 7+ years.

the one I'm looking at is a Dell, link below:

My current laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1720 it's about 10 years old

oh, the same Dell I am looking at on the Dell site is $1049 ! I asked them what the difference was and the lady said they are "similar", I asked what was different as they look the same and she never responded.
