Default Third Brake light!

Anyone find a good LED replacement for the third brake light? I have a 97 Nissan and the light is sun burnt and the bulbs are expensive! I have seen some around, but they look too long? Just wondering..

If you check out different camper shell parts suppliers, they have surface mount third brake lights for shells that might could be adapted to the back of the cab.

One online vendor. You could also check out a local supplier if you have one that is large enough to stock parts like this.

I have had mine removed and sealed for over two years, so if you can find one and adapt it, you can seal up the three holes as needed. I used rubber expansion plugs and stainless bolts for the bolt holes, this same base could be used to build an adapter plate of of. I sealed off the wire hole similarly, but obviously you bould want that coming out. There are weather tight grommet options out there.

My 1988 Mazda B2200 truck doesn't have a 3rd brake light, air bags, or ABS.

My 1970 VW doesn't have a 3rd brake light, air bags, or ABS.

My 1971 VW Convertible doesn't have a 3rd brake light, air bags, or ABS.

Just a thought, you could possibly replace the plastic and put in LEDs. I put LEDs in mine last summer, though I also have a "dried" plastic piece to it (the red one). All I had to do was ream out the holes a bit and that was it. Just a thought.

I know I'm a little late to this party but, I replaced all six of the tiny bulbs in my third brake light with these leds. They are very bright and fit in the socket perfect. They do have polarity so if they don't light up when you put them in the socket turn them 180.
Also, they have a slightly bigger circumference than the old incandescent bulbs so I had to drill out the holes in the light a little. Super easy to do. Looks better and is cheaper than getting new old bulbs.

Those bulbs can be found cheaply from Euro auto parts suppliers.

Ive been told a 2005 Nissan Frontier 3rd brake light fits with minor trimming to the hole the actual plug feeds through. Can be had for $32 on ebay
