Default Weapon R D21 Intake Question

Anyone got one of these intakes? If so, are you happy with it? and does it give a noticeable intake noise increase?

Also pics of your engine bay would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I too would be interested in what people have done with their intakes. I have 100% of the factory stuff in place and untamprered. The truck is under powered in the mountains where I live and any more breathing would be nice. I do not want to sacrifice filtration though as I spend a lot of time in off the beaten track and in wet and snow.

Save your money. Buy an intake tube off a 96+ truck that eliminates the baffle box.

Foul_Mouth, In Aus our Utes have a different intake setup from the factory, with a open air box above the throttle body, with a tub leading to a panel filter at the left side of the engine bay, The US parts wouldnt fit.

If that's the case how is the Weapon R going to fit then? It's the same thing just 200 dollars more expensive.

I decided to just make one up myself, got some 3 inch Aluminum Pipe from an auto shop, cut to suit and bought a K&N Filter. Happy with how it looks, and has given the engine quite a nice growl at mid-high rpm.

In terms of gains, I haven't noticed much difference under 4k (Apart from noise), but 4-6 seems to rev quicker.

Next I need to repaint the rocker cover..

Look like the same setup as the US sans the master cylinders behind the intake. That factory air box is wild, you should export them to the US. Looks good though.

I wouldn't want to pull air from right next to the header. Maybe remove the bottom of the stock air box and get the filter closer to the corner

I am planing to buy a longer pipe, and make up a proper air box where the stock one would sit, but it does the job for now.
