Default 91 Hardbody Dash Swap (96 model)

Alright so I have a 96 model dash lined up to purchase. My thing is I know that I need to make sure and grab as much as possible for the 96 dash bc everything is gonna b different. My question is A.) Is it worth it and B.) What are the main things I need to get to make it as easy as possible without ending up having to order n spend a bunch of extra money. I have a double din that I'm gonna install and it's never gonna fit the 91 dash plus the round dashes of the 96-97 look better. Anything will help Thanks!

You can't use the steering column bracket or the middle bracket. Those have to be used from a 94-95 Hardbody or Pathfinder. Everything else will work.

because 96-97 has airbag, the steering column Is mounted differently. if you use the 9-95 brackets everything bolts up, no fabbin.

The large 2 main dash brackets are different. Especially the steering column bracketry. The mounting point to firewall is different.
Gotta use the ones up to 95 to be a direct bolt in.

A.) IMO Yes, its worth it...to me. I as well think the later round dashes look better, but some ppl seem to disagree. It's really all preference.

B.) Besides what everyone else already said about the column brackets and covers, you'll need the correct elec. speed sensor(VSS), which I believe are kinda pricey if you want new.

You can still use the steering column cover out of your 91.

Driving an hour out huh, IMO I would just try and find or wait a lil longer for a 94-95 to pop up. My .02

I went and picked up the dash already. The guy let me tak any and everything I wanted from 2 different 96 models so the trip was worth it and he had a passenger fender that was as straight as new and I got it all for $90...the only thing I need now is the brackets from a 94/95 and the duct work bc I'm an idiot and didn't left it there. If anyone knows a good place to order it or any suggestions that would b helpful. Also I was considering fiberglass for customizing the dash bc its in good shapwnbut I don't want to just use dash paint or a dash cover...any suggestions?

Ok I guess the better question is the guy wouldn't sell me the speedometer w the gauges bc of the mileage so I will either have to make the speedometer from my current gauges work or buy a new one and figure out how to get it to my trans and hope it works but I'm not a dive right in kinda person I make.
sure i research and talk to professionals before I start doin shit blind lol

You can use any year vss and get them for like 60 bucks from ebay. As far as gauges i have a set for a round dash i can sell you cause the yard around me has plenty so its nothing to go get a new set
