So... if you make any slight mods, you're in the 'outlaw' class?? What are the restrictions on the FSP? If there aren't many, why not a V8?
Go NUTZ young man...
F mouth, when I'm done with this assignment, I'll be back in Westen NY.
I have a few vehicles ready for X cross.

FSP says engine swaps and turbo/supercharging vehicles that weren't from the factory are out. Everything else seems to be OK.

Booze: Right on! Let's tip some cones!

One vehicle at a time. They have two timing Gates(start and finish)

I have never done it, but I had a blast watching my 16yo man handle his HB around the course. His smile after his first clean run pleased me to no end.

Thanks guys! I had the same instructor 4 out of 5 runs. He enjoyed having a truck running the course so much that he insisted on running with me each time. The Sumitomo tires held the course well. Watching the videos I can see areas where I lost time and could have pushed through harder. That's learning though. May 5th is the next event and I am pre-registered. I am hoping for rain, rain teaches a driver many things so the chance to drive in it is welcome.

Even with the SAW torsions and all the bushing work and roll bars the truck has plenty of roll. I started with all 4 tires at 40psi for the first 3 runs then I raised the fronts to 42psi. That seemed to help enough to feel a boost in confidence while turning. Greg, my instructor, was very pleased with my last run and had some pretty nice things to say about it. He was the one who led the novice course walk-through so that was inspiring to me big time.

This week I am re-reading sections of the autoX books and now that I have seen what goes on and felt how the truck handles it things are beginning to make more sense...slowly. The way this course was set up it helped to break it down into 4 quadrants. Since I was the second run group and didn't have to work the course before my first run I was able to watch each section for several minutes at a time and how each car went through it. That helped me memorize the lay out a bit. I still did off course, once, but that was because I was driving off the hood of the truck and not looking 3 turns ahead.

I think the trucks will do well. As a novice I didn't do my truck any justice, that takes practice. Next week I want to try finding some of the trucks limits, I got nothing to lose and everything to gain. I might have lots of spin out footage next week.

Next event for me is this coming Sunday 5/5/2013. Once again I'll be running in novice FSP. After that is one weekend off then it's down to Watkins Glen on 5/19/2013 to run another event, this time with the Glen Region of the SCCA.
