I'm in the same boat. I'd love a 17x8 setup on some 215/50's
I've been googling and searching my ass off. I can't see 90% of the pics on this forum. Something about third party accounts. I dunno. Did you ever get around to doing this?

Hi Riff,
I have 17x7.5 Titan wheels with 205/50 on my truck. The size is ~1.8% larger than the stock 14s with the factory rubber..... They fit very well, but I am not sure that you could get the 8" wide wheels under there unless the offset was pretty deep, and you were only going to drop the truck just a little. I had to use a scissor jack to slightly bulge the rear bedsides to get the rears to stop rubbing, and my front are 4wd fenders so they clear just barely. Here is a pic of my truck, I have Belltech 2" spindles in the front+ torsion bar adjustment and Belltech 3"rear springs with re-drilled hangers.. So best my math is ~4 or 5 inches of drop front and rear......

Cool

I'm bout to buy some 17x8's
Jim, do those rub the inside of the fender at all?
I'm definitely going with a 55 series tire now that I saw that, but I think I'll go 235 width for a little bit "fatter" look. Pics to come

no rub whatsoever in any situation. keep in mind I am at stock height. i also thought about the 235s but was concerned that I might rub at full lock.

good luck. post pics when you are done.

cheers

Talking

Will do. Wheels are in the mail. Found some damn near brand spankin new 235/45r17's about 5 miles from my house for $100, so i guess ill be trying those out. These wheels are a -12 offset, so im going to have a bit of poke, which is cool with me because i only planned on a mild drop. Maybe 2" Or 3" if it's doable. I'll see how much I can drop it when I get the wheels on. Another advantage to going with the 45 series tire, is that my Speedo will be pretty much unaffected from what I read.

Pics to come. Thanks fellas.
