I'd like to know, too.

d21_truck_1990.pdf is for the gasoline engines, but the Electrical System should be largely the same.

Page EL-54 and EL-55 have the METER AND GAUGES info.

There is a section with diesel engine info, but I never look at it.

1988 d21 nissan navara pathfinder terrano service manual

You would still probably want to look in the EL section (electrical).

For those that don't know, you actually found a good truck compared to all of the rusted out ones that I'm coming across here in Germany. Europe has been very hard on those trucks over the past 20+ years. I'm going to go back to the US to buy my next truck, then ship it back to Germany.

Mine is all rusted behind that shiny red paint The previous owner had painted it all over the rust and the holes... It's nice looking if you just look it from far away :P

Even the inside is all messed up :/

For the record, I was able to spot right off that those were not real chrome wheels.

Even if you got the wires sorted out, it might not read correctly. I know diesel engines typically have much lower engine speeds than gasoline versions.

It might be easier to find an aftermarket tachometer to replace the one in the gauge cluster.

The pin pulls off, and the gauge comes out the back.

If you found a small, traditional style tachometer for a diesel engine, it might be better to just replace the stock tachometer in your gauge cluster.

It would be the same trouble ... Finding the signal source to feed the signal cable :/ If I can get that, I can also get the OEM Tach working

But neither on those PDF's are the source of the Diesel engines Tach
