Well I did the NGK plugs, got some pretty decent wires out of the Rock Auto clearance section (lol) and replaced the horrifically dirty air filter (maybe was original...). Now it runs much better actually, but still smokes like hell.

I did do a Marvel Mystery Oil soak on the cylinders, but it didn't do a whole lot I suppose. I guess I'll just have to get it registered and actually drive it.

Before long I'll definitely have to do CVs and full fluid changes (trans, both diffs).

And once it's on the road I'll have to finally replace the stupid rubber brake light switch stopper.

Started fluid changes today. I did the manual transmission. Fill cap is passenger side halfway down the side and drain is under it. I used Redline MTL, definitely thinner than the stock stuff, but from what I read it should work fine.

It looks like the rear diff is actually leaking, so I'll replace the seal and poke around inside before I put new fluid in it.

Today I did the fluid changes in both diffs. It looks like someone was a little frisky off-road and flattened the rear diff drain plug, so I had to pump all the fluid out of the diff, but it worked out.

My front diff fluid was awfully silver though....

Anyways I lost my keys this week, so that blows.

I appreciate all the support, yall.

I was hoping to find the keys, but no such luck, so I got replacements made from a door cylinder for way cheaper than I expected (18.50 for two keys).

It smokes a little less than it did a few months ago, so progress!

I've started playing with the bodywork a little bit getting ready to get into welding new panels in. My welding is like 4/10 at best, but I'll do the best I can.
Have any of you played around with Meguiars Number 7? It does seem to work pretty nicely on this single stage desert runner paint. I'm trying to find a good paint match for the desert runner colors for the patches I'll need to do, but I can't find any resources for that online.

I finally got it registered and tagged, so I'll start driving it soon now that it's legal. Just gotta be careful since this thing hasn't been on the road in over 10 years apparently.

Keep at it bud the desert runners are awesome. I know all to well the feeling of putting something on the road that hasn't been driven in a long time, especially after putting all kinds of time into it.
