That took longer that it should. Between the engine being NASTY, kids loosing parts, wife nagging about spending time with her and being OCD about a clean engine and running out of RUM in the middle of this.... I'm glad it is now done.

Got Timing chain, plugs, and plug wire checked off the list. The write up by ALABAMA was a huge help. A few snags along the way but for the most part it wasn't that bad.

Now a few more things to get checked off the list then on to paint!!!

Anyone have a "how to" to remove and clean the throttle body? The PO abused this little red truck and the Throttle body looks like someone took a in it. I know I could clean it while attached but I am a bit OCD and like to be very detail about my work. While it's not like an engineering exam i am hoping someone has some tips, tricks and heads up before i dive in.....

Will that matter and/or will any kit work that goes to a 2.4? If not, what is needed to purchase the correct chain kit?
Just looked through this thread, nice work. Looking at the pictures I have never seen a KA24 SE truck (I think 96 and 97 maybe because 95 was the last year of the VG30 due to emissions). I couldn't tell from the door panels but do you have power windows/locks or mirrors? The passenger side mirror looks manual but I have been tricked before. I can't tell from the picture if there is a moon-roof or not. Most of these items are standard on an SE truck but not always the case. If you have manual windows with the SE door panels, make sure you take care of them, they are really hard to find.

To my surprise it worked. I was skeptic all the way. But its quieter now.

So......I got a new radiator in it this weekend. The original one's top spout broke and blew hot fluid on my arm and face.
[IMG][/IMG]

After some clever negotiating, I got O'Rileys to beat AutoZone's price by $20 ($60 total for new radiator companed to $80 at AutoZone).

Then cleaned off the grill and bumper for reinstall. Put some rattle can black on the bumper until the repaint.
And finally........ after being down for a few months, I got to drive it around the neighborhood and tore my yard up. Wife was mad but you know what..........its running smooth!!!!

Looks great! I have been thinking about running Seafoam through mine as well just to clean it out.
