Yeah I'm pretty sure they were 10" wide. I don't think you can get a skinnier one that tall, it'd just be too janky. Easiest way to get some thinner ones would be to go up to a 17" wheel. There's a ton more tire options for 16+ wheels.

The paint's pretty rough but other than that the body looks to be in pretty solid shape. Good find!

Sorry that I haven't put anything up yet, it's going really slow right now.

My main reason is that it's kind of dark here right now(less than 300k's from the polar circle...).

And I'm quite busy working at Cat at the moment since early November rebuilding mineing vehicles, and other stuff.

As soon as it gets a bit more light by day here I'll start with the body work, with pics of cause... .

Default Finally a small progress...

After searching for a 185hp D5 engine for a reasonable price(there are none), I finally found a complete V70 D5 extremely cheap.
Itīs a 163hp, but the price was so low Iīll make the money back and some, just for some of the other parts.

Here it is:

And shortly after I found this one, a NP242 t-case turned up cheap so Iīll call on that one tomorrow.

Default Gear ratios...

I've might changed my mind on the volvo gearbox, I might go for a ax15 gearbox instead, which is made for a t-case.
Would be easier to adapt the bellhousing to the engine instead.
However, this gives me another problem, the ax15 has lower 5:th gear than the m90.

So what's the numerical lowest gear I'll find in any d21 4x4 axles?
And which years/trucks will I find it in?

Default Itīs going to be an auto...

Havenīt posted anything for quite a while, been working alot.

However, got something done.

Iīm going for a 4L60 (th700) for gearbox, itīll solve the problem with gearing on highest gear.

Got the gearbox and the NP242, going to order a 27 spline input shaft for the transfer case+ a tail housing for the gearbox.

Luckily there is chevy oem parts that fits, now I just have to make an adapter between engine and trans.
And a flexplate for the engine, thought that it would be easy.
But for some reason, a flexplate for the diesel engine seems hard to find...

Default Stall speed...

Anyone here has any idea how to choose/define suitable stall speed on a converter?

My 4L60 comes from a 4.3L v6, not a high revving engine.
But a Volvo d5 is a diesel, a modern one, but still a diesel.
It has most torque between 1750-2250rpm, but has alot torque before that also, but haven't any specs below 1750.

Anyone knows what converter specs I'd aim for, there's quite a few to choose from, from 1200-to 2200rpm of stock converters.

But you must have the 1.9tdi and the 2.5 audi/vw diesels available?
Really great engines, lives at least 500-700.000kms.
And some Volvo diesels?

Nice project if it works out for you.

I have a 1984 Volvo 245D with the VW 6 cylinder diesel in it and 4 speed with electric OD. SLUG!
And smoke? Oooofff.
The car is almost mint, and I use it in the summer only.

The early VW 6 cylinder diesels were not great engines.

Have you considered any of the Asian diesels?
