This isn’t my first Nissan build but I’m going to finish this one. For this build I plan on putting in a 5.3l v8 and bag it. If you guys have any advise on the v8 swap give me a shout. Still looking for mounts. Motor should be here in a week or less and then it’s time for Mach up. This is the 1996 I picked up to start. A bit rough but for a 20 year old truck she will do.

Not much to see here just the first week of tearing the truck down and seeing what I can salvage. Dash has come out I have started painting but the cold put a stop to that.
Motor will come out today and drop the Gas tank so it can come in the garage. Have to pull the cab off to paint the frame and do some cab body work. |

There are two 5.3L swaps on here that I know of. DvdSwan, and mine. My build thread is in my sig, below.
Both of ours are 4x4. In some ways yours will be easier, and in other ways it will be harder because of the lack of height.

Also ASR321 did an LS swap. He first did a SBC (I think a 327) with an automatic, and if I recall on his thread here he went to a 4.8 with a T56.
http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/...ad.php?t=15438 He hasn't been active in a while. I've seen his truck featured several places, this is the newest. http://s3mag.com/blog/no-money-no-pr...y-drift-truck/ Now says he has an LS2. ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the info. I’m definitely looking for a bunch of info. I think I’m going with a 4l60 transmission.

Cleaning 20 years of dirt and grease has been a pain but will make everything easier down the road. Removed motor, transmission, gas tank, and doors. I finally have the truck in the garage. I’m orderi parts this week for the motor etc and beginning the cab sanding and painting.
For some reason photos won’t upload. |

Photos are probably too large and need to be resized first

Good call resized the images. Still nothing special to see. That windshield has to come out next. I have a great mechanic helping me but I am still in search of a fabricator to build mounts.
If the weather cooperates I will be painting the frame tomorrow. |

The mounts in my donor pickup were attached to the frame with a long bolt and nut that ran parallel with the frame rail. The engine mount bolt to those. I robbed them from the donor truck, torched them to fit the nissan frame, and welded them in place.
I did all of the fitting with the engine mocked-up in place. Scroll through this post to see mine welded in. http://mississippi-mud.com/Thread-Th...2309#pid272309 You should be able to pick some up at a junkyard for cheap.
