It works rather well actually. It is really useful to know exactly what bulb is burnt out instead of getting pulled over for a light out. It just has the drawback of being a little more sensitive in some ways when everything isn't satisfied.

And I thought my car was fancy because it has a light that tells you when one of your brake lights is burned out. Doesn't tell you which one, just that one of them is burned out.

For the meter you could backprobe the terminals provided you can reach back in there. Sorry I can't be of more assistance, I'm afraid this one's a bit above my pay grade.

TRS is sending out a bulb.

This car is way too smart for its own good. I'm not looking forward to swapping in the bulb.

Good on them for standing behind their product. I can't imagine having a car that smart. Mine will go through half a tank of gas before the CEL comes on in the event that the cap isn't tightened down. It's a double-edged sword I guess. We have two VWs at work that I wrench on somewhat regularly and I wonder how many additional fault codes they would have if I scanned them with VCDS instead of my generic OBD2 tool.

With VCDS mine told me there is a connection issue with my driver's door speaker. And the rear door lock is apparently sticky one one of the rear doors.

My CEL seems to be emissions only and.it.still hates my down stream O2s.

In my defense I did have to pay shipping and put a deposit down on the bulb since I didn't want to be out a bulb. Once I cut the leads off the one in the car and send them a pic they will refund.

Not thread related, but the CEL is only for emissions codes. There could be a Pxxx code for AC or something, but it probably won't illuminate the light. This is why a manufacturer scan tool is a double edge sword, but you can get those BCM codes, too! I'd like to have a consult for ABS but the old brick works fine for the engine.

Edited to say thanks for posting your headlight adventures. Definitely helpful as I slowly upgrade mine.

My CEL is for downstream O2 sensors. For some reason at no load, usually stopped and idling, they throw lean codes. Those don't even deal with the A/F ratios. VCDS is awesome and allows me to see OBD codes, MFR codes and even data log sensors plus a lot more.

That is pretty weird. Is it possible there is a leak in the exhaust between the two sensors?

Shouldn't be. The cat is part of the down pipe on each side. One sensor before and after on each bank.

Are they heated? If the voltages are low, perhaps they are dying. What do the voltages do under other conditions? Once in closed loop, the computer will expect certain parameters, seems unlikely to be a software fault at this point.
