Default Dirt bike people: bought a mystery bike (Amstar Dirtbike 125cc)

Hey Gang I recently got my hands on a pit bike, got it for a decent price but I canít seem to find any info about it anywhere online.

Amstar seems to be a Chinese manufacturer that produces all sorts of cool motorcycles and bikes. They have a very useless website and some of their bikes are being advertised on random websites/reviewed on YouTube so thereís a bit of info out there but nothing in terms of valuable tips and tricks for owning one.

My mechanically inclined buddy looked at it today, rode it around and said the air intake needs to be adjusted because the idle is weird and it keeps bogging out.
How would yíall go about accomplishing this? Itís a great little bike and I canít wait to cruise around on it after some needed adjustments.

I have an old yamaha timberwolf that is a bitch to deal with. Even a new oem carb didnt change how hard it is to start. My other atv is a 2013 honda rancher. Fuel injected bikes are the only way to go.....as long as they are properly maintained.

Right on. Luckily the couple bikes I recently got my hands on have been decently maintained. Iím hoping to get a long life of cruising around the trails out of em.

Kewl, got a PIC? 2 stroke or 4?

If you have not, yet....... I'd pull the carb and "carefully" go thru it. Old fuel and varnishing can cause the problem you described. Pinesol is great for breaking down fuel deposits and varnish. Let me know if this is an option for you and I can put together a better writeup.

SPEAKING OF FUEL...... I see you're in the PNW, welcome. I only run NON-ETH (non-ethanol) fuels in ALL my small motors, motorcycles included. Yea, it's a bit more, but I also don't have much springtime maint either, after sitting all winter. FYI: Eth fuels have a shelf life of 2-3 months (like what you ruin in your car) and NON-eth can be a year. Also, ETH is corn based, right? Corn is water based, gas/oil and water don't mix. Yes, eth fuels DO seperate!

This site can show you the closest non-eth station(s): https://www.pure-gas.org/

Is it one of the Lifan motors? Most of those Chinese 125 bikes use close to the same engine. You can put a bigger carb (I think 24mm?) on them and it sorts out some bogging and really opens the top end up. There's a TON of parts around for those Chinese bikes, you just gotta know where to get them. Alibaba sells a lot of them.
