Default ECU tuning

lets say I scrounge up some turbo parts.

I don't do computer stuff
I have a 97 2wd 5spd.
obd2 cannot be chipped correct? same as Hondas.
is there a programmer that will plug in and self tune or take to a shop.

or is there a mystical ecu from a dif Nissan that would work?
for like 10lbs of boost. jdm car? prolly dif plugs.
I don't know much about nissans.

contemplating ls swap just kinda need the truck running for the season though. then I can hack at it

Depends on what you mean by "chipped". OBD vehicles can have the ECM or ECM coding modified. My 2003 Audi has a tune on it.

There are plug in programmers for the 96-97 but if you are going turbo they will be a waste of money. Talk to someplace like JWT and have them make a tune for your application. It'll be pricey though. Expect to drop about $500 on a JWT tune.

A plug in tuner generally doesn't do much on a gas engine. A tune on a stock gas engine generally doesn't do much either. Turbo gas engines can benefit from tunes. NA generally doesn't.

thank you for the reply. I was referring to really any kind of nonstock build on the ka24 motor how would I adjust air fuel ratios? as in who does everyone go about it.
I know Hondas old ecus you just convert to obd1 and get hondata chipped ecu, plug into laptop and change things.

so if I wanted to get a turbo kit. how should I go about it?
im familiar with copy and paste, taking basemaps some1 has made and loading them and going from there. but don't know what management system/brand to use

Google Nistune. They make a board for the ka24e. Runs about 300 with tuning license.
