I had someone tell me that the transfer case in a 1998 pathfinder will work on my 95 hardbody Nissan D21 is that true

What motor in the pathy? I'm pretty sure the answer is no. The 98 is a R50 which split from the truck chassis.

TX10, but V6 and 4cyl had different spline count if IIRC.

yes. as long as the splines are the same . a frontier transfer case would also work
