The clutch you have is not an Exedy clutch, the ad says they use an Exedy pressure plate and a XTR Steel Back Carbon Kevlar Disc.
I hope it works out for you. I wouldn't buy a clutch from E-bay, I have heard of Exedy clutches being counterfeit. But as I said, hope it works out good for you. Also read that the XTD company ( who makes the XTR clutch discs) do not honor the warranty. http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/Aimco-...automot-378941

I bought mine off Ebay, they had stage 1-2- and 3 Exedy clutches for the V6 application.
I was weary at first buying that type of part from Ebay however the parts came sealed in an exedy box and everything. It might be safe to assume someone is just selling 300zx clutches as D21 clutches or something because the transmissions are essentially the same (again V6), but I can vouch that it works and was definitely a stage 2 clutch. Also, I re-used my original flywheel in order to save on cost.

Exedy does not offer a stage 1,2 or 3 clutch for the truck V6, they do for the KA though, check on their website.
the 87-89 300ZX uses the same clutch disc as the VG in the truck 250mm the 90-96 300ZX uses a 240mm clutch disc and is available in the different stages You bought a "Hybrid" kit, they claim it's an Exedy pressure plate (how do you even know?) and a XTR clutch disc. Just because the package was sealed doesn't mean it was sealed from Exedy. Only reason I wrote all this is I read what you posted than went to the Exedy site to research the stage 2 clutch and couldn't find it, not trying to break your chops or anything.

All I know is this clutch REALLY grabs and the parts were all very high quality. There is a very short "Friction point" in the pedal now and that's great for my application. I'd recommend the purchase to someone else regardless of the fact that it's "Ebay quality," there's still a 12 month/12000 mile warranty after all. I made that decision based on one of my friends who bought the same clutch package for his Jeep off Ebay and had nothing but great things to say about it. I should add I wasn't prepared to pay $700 for a centerforce clutch, but I've heard great things about those clutches too.

I was never doubting what you said as to how the clutch works. Just pointing out it's not an Exedy stage 2 clutch.
As I said I hope it works good for you, so far it seems it is and I only wish you the best of luck with it. as far as the warranty, it's good to claim something has a warranty until you try to use it.

![]() I'm hoping this thread can just be useful to others as there are a ton of clutches out there and it's something that nobody want's to install twice.

it all depends on how well you can drive a clutch and the type of driving, someone new to a manual trans can take out a brand new clutch in a very short time no matter what clutch is used.

synbiotic12: How is that clutch still working for you?
I'm getting close to replacing my clutch. Can someone help guide me to what and where I should purchase all the parts? I have a 1991 4 cylinder 4x4. It's my daily driver and I do a bit of offroading here and there. OEM would probably be fine but if there is something that would be better I'm all for it. Should I just talk to my local NAPA or can someone guide me to somewhere online? I'm working on getting the shifter boot off today and researching to start hopefully next weekend. |
