Default Instrument Panel

Also with the 1995 Nissan D21 Hardbody, I am having the instrument cluster replaced. I assume this means the dashboard has to be removed. Is there anything else that can be done or should be looked at while this is off?

The cluster come out with a few screws. Nothing really to do there. Make sure the bulbs for the panel are OK and that's pretty much all.

YES!
Replace your instrument panel bulbs with some LED's! See HERE.

Oh...no...you don't have to pull the dashboard. But treat the clear plastic cover on the front of the instrument panel like its made of eggshell. That sucker will crack on you easily.

LEDs are not necessary. If you like your instruments to be dim like I do you will hate the LEDs. If you want others on the road to see your face reflect.off the dash, go LED.

My truck, at least, has a dimmer switch. Maybe not all do.

If you go Cool White, they are pretty bright. But if you go Natural White, they are brighter, but not blinding. It's a good middle ground. They also have Warm White, which are even less bright than Natural, but still brighter than stock. The main idea is...you probably won't have to replace any instrument bulbs again. I'm not much for the color LED's on an instrument panel, though.

Look...I am definitely upgrading before the end of the year. I promise to post up pictures and we'll see. I'm debating between Natural and Warm White. Have to study the pictures at the website real good. But Cool White is definitely OUT.

They all should. I think that the factory dash lights are too bright on their lowest setting. I'd rather see the road than how fast my engine is turning.

Different dashes, but both my 720 and 95 hardbody can be dimmed to nothing.

I can dim down to zip, but I don't know how that will work with the LED's. Guess I will see and report around Christmas.

The R50 pathy can turn the dash lights off. It's all in the value of the pot used.
