Truck will get some hot weather towing this weekend. Time to test the cooling system in 100+F weather and a trailer!

Yikes, it cost $173 for a new battery. It's been awhile since I had to buy one, when did they become so expensive?

VOTS

That's about going rate for an AGM. You can find cheaper batteries.

195/50/16. Les Schwab had a of one option. Tire Rack has nothing under $80/tire. I was on a doughnut and paid $90/tire for what seems like a decent tire.

I agree on those Walmart batteries. I have one made by Johnson controls. Its only about 3-4 years old but going strong. I'm hard on it with speakers/sub and lights and it cranks good every time! Even killed it once with an electric fan!

I'm in Roseburg. Wish I was back in the Bend area. No way in hell I'll be anywhere near the loonies in Portland! Sorry you Northern OR folks. PTown is full of crazies and weirdos.

SBJ, the girlfriends car said 100F at 6PM. It was dam hot today!

My Walmart battery is still going too. I think it was $85 out the door. It has lasted the warranty period at least. I am lucky to live on a hill in the event of a failure.

Deerhurst, I think I'm a couple hours north. I'm in Corvallis. It got to 99 today here.

We should get the Oregon guys together at some point! Find a good central location and have our own cars and coffee type thing. Do BBQ on a tailgate or something.

I'd be up for that.

I got it all torn down in about 3 hours, give or take. The front of the block is all cleaned up and the new timing set is in. Tomorrow after work is cleaning up the timing cover and putting it back together. That poor tensioner that came with my no-name kit barely had any piston left to work with. No wonder it was making such a racket on startup. It's also a good thing I'm replacing the water pump again while I'm in there...the $20 O'Reilly pump I put in it a few years ago has started leaking. I noticed a few drops of coolant on the oil pan lip and followed it back up. Like the timing set it too has lasted the warranty period, which I believe is 12K miles. I'm beginning to see a pattern here...

I'm up for this as long as it involves something at least overnight, and is held in the woods. I will even bring the BBQ and the tank.

THIS is what I can do: Full power for a 32" Samsung TV and any or all devices you want to enable. No region DVD player, anything goes. Bring your video game system if you wish. I can juice everything like you are actually in town.

Massive tarps (10 mil) that can shade a pretty big area.

Stereo that takes your CD's or flash drives with MP3 loaded.

First Aid preparedness not much short of a med clinic, and in another life I was a CNA. Just in case.

There are a lot of nice places in Oregon to set up a gathering like this. Just don't forget to bring your own chair.

Do you have a Walmart up there?

Not one that does tires. It would probably cost me another $30 to get it mounted and balanced anyways.
