tough call. mechanically the same, electronically I don't know on the s14. You'll have to study the FSMs and likely swap parts.

Nissan only has a few trans designs, but they use sub codes ##x## to specify gearing and specific differences. They are both re4r01a.

I just need it to run and drive( the engine runs smooth and strong)...not too worried about gearing as I have an extra built sr and trans...this is just so I can make it drive...the auto in it had a 10mm nut fall into the pan and the truck doesn't have reverse and doesn't shift...basically it stays in one gear and moves slowly. I just did a 5spd swap on s14 so I have a great trans...in theory if they are the same trans that I'll swap bells and tails...although the output may be different. I was just asking just in case I can't fix the original trans or swap I can at least make one good auto trans. I'm going to focus on the paint, interior/(power doors and windows and possibly a power rear window), suspension/hubs/brakes, and then swap it literally in that order. For all i know I could pull the pan on the auto trans in the truck and a solenoid could be loose (hence the 10mm nut)..that would be lucky.

thanks for the info though a bunch, I was pretty sure they were similar if not almost identical, figured some swapping would be necessary.

I took one apart a few years ago. Not that hard just involved. If none of the moving parts are burned then it should be an easy fix.

Drain it. Flip it. Print out the FSM and go to town lol.
