Default need help, truck is breaking me.

well i'll just start by saying this is the worth month i have ever had. i'll just put it at that and not mention all the other bad things that have been happening to me. was heading to a town over friday night aroudn 12:30am to get something to eat. hit a bump then head a scrapping sound. the bracket for my gastank broke and the tank is like a inch from the pavement. pull over and call a buddy we get it held up and head home. saturday i fix it. go to the same town everything goes good. sunday night comes, about 11, i get hungry and head that way again, then the alt takes a crap on me and battery dies so im on the side of the road again. buddy lets me use a extra optima and i get home.

wel i get my hid's in today and put those and my new alt on. let it run for about 20 minutes in the yard, everythings fine. head down the road, get a mile from my house it starts spittin and sputtering and the rpm needle jumps up and down like crazy then dies. pull over, let it sit a while then call my dad to tow it home. get home and itll idle but then time i hit the gas it spitts and sputters and smells like its flooding and dies.

so what do you guys think it is? MAF sensor??? or something else? its my only ride other than my bike at the moment so need it fixed asap

it could be a mass air flow. is the engine light on. try to scan it. as for the rpm fluctuation thats signal from the dist.

I'm having a very similar issue with my truck, but it keeps running fine. It only does that when I give it more gas or more so when I have the A/C on. Havent had time to really dig into it, but will probably bring it into the shop tomorrow and diag it to see what it is.

I figured it would be mass air flow or ignition related

well about 3 years ago it started acting funny and geting like 10 mpg it was horrible and i replaced the maf and it fixed it. but i put a used one in., so its making me wonder if its that again. which with money right now ill have to get a used one again . its hard finding a junkyard that actually has these trucks around where i live so i dread it. was hoping someone could tell me what it was before i started throwing parts at it

Really HONESTLY sounds like the MAF. Happens alot to the 2.5 Altima guys over at NissanClub. How much is a new MAF for your truck?
Will this work.....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-91...item3cb68e4b77

NVM... I think you may need to go Nissan genuine for this to avoid the same situation, BUT I see why you say its cost prohibitive......

The spitting and sputtering thing happened to me not too long ago. It turned out to be a loose wire in the harness that goes to the positive side of the battery. I re wired the harness nice and tight an it worked perfectly after that. Take a look at those wires and see if anything's loose.

Buy a new one that has a lifetime warranty if available. When you buy used, you get the life span of a used one. I completely understand finances in buying a used one.
