Default RB20, RB25 or RB26 information

This is to just start the thread, I will update this with more information as I get it or find it. I just wanted a common place to put any knowledge someone might have for this swap here.

What little I do know about these, they are all three based on the same inline 6 cyl block. The RB20 and RB25 have a single turbo and the RB26 is a twin turbo. The RB26 was only available for the Skyline with AWD, the most common swaps have to go get an RB25 transmission since I have not seen anyone transplant the entire driveline over, would be kinda cool though.

I think the RB26 had a few more additions to it besides the twin turbo like extra oil passages or something of that sort. I don't think it was just for the twin turbos that came on the RB26 and extra .1 liter it had. Once I realized I couldn't use it I kinda quit looking, this was 10 years ago so my memory could be a bit "off." The RB26 cost a pretty penny back in the day.

The only swap here that I know of, the owner has not updated this in a while so don't expect an answer to any post until he starts updating his thread again:

The rb26dett was only available in the 89-02 GT-Rs and the Autech Stagea. The other awd skylines had a rb20det for the r32s or a rb25de for the r33s and 34s. Between all the other models there were 4 rb20s (sohc na, dohc na, sohc turbo, and dohc turbo) and an na or turbo rb25 which only came in dohc. They also made a rb30 for a few Holdens in the 80s. I believe in 98 all the rbs were replaced with NEO versions which were just more efficient.

PS. I sort of like Skylines a little bit.

No problem, the more information everyone has the better off we will all be. I hate seeing someone get halfway through a project and stop because they didn't think it all out and the information was out there. I realize every so often your the first in uncharted waters so expect a few delays in your build, if your not the first find out why the others succeeded or failed so you understand what your up against.

It may be inappropriate to bring up an old thread, but has anyone made any progress on rb swap into our truck.

I am working on fitting the engine but I have been working on the chassis to get it ready to slide first.

(Plus RB20's are harder to get power, so I am planning the build before I start just buying parts)

I have not seen much progress from anyone lately but there are two people who started working on an rb project, pretty sure your one of them.

Confession, I have not done hardly any research lately, just trying to get stuff sorted out so I can start back on my builds.

Besides actual fitment anything in particular your looking for.

I've got a buddy that's done the rb20 swap. If I remember, ill either take some notes or have him join. What I do know is he pretty much built literally everything around the motor to make it work

When you say he has built everything you mean custom motor mounts, transmission mounts and drive shaft? or has he cut the firewall to allow for the engine to sit back in bay. I measured my rb20det from crank pulley to the end of the block which in like 29in aprox. This turn out to be like a half inch shy of my radiator support.

I know the wiring harness is gonna be custom

IF your buddy has some pointers or some pictures I would love to see them.

full frame from the front clip back. I don't think they changed anything on the front suspension dimension's, but I'm not 100%. Motor position is sitting back a good ways in his engine compartment. And hes right hand drive.

I've got a text in with him. Let ya know what I find out.

direct text from him..

To make it fit like I did custom mounts and cut to whole firewall back 2" and then the center 4 more inches.
