Neat idea! Put me in that list as well.

Would it be cool to donate $5 to this person via PayPal?

It is $55 dollars for a month of service. This month includes, Unlimited look ups by License Plate Number and a grand total of 5 look ups via VIN.

I would be willing, say for the Month of APRIL, pay for the service if the interest is here. As for donation, we could possibly make them payable to site or some sort of kitty in which the site benefits. I for one am extremely grateful to this site and would like to help in any way possible.
If you have interest in running your Car Fax at some point in the near future and your willing to donate some unspecified low amount to INFAMOUS NISSAN, please respond to this thread.

PS To the owner of INFAMOUS NISSAN, I hope this does not make you mad. My intentions were good.

So, I got to looking around.

Car Fax (http://www.carfax.com/entry.cfx) wants $49.99 for 5 Reports or $54.99 for Unlimited Reports.

Vin Car History (https://vincarhistory.com/) wants $9.99 for a report.

Vehicle History Report (https://www.instavin.com/) wants $6.99.

Anyone have any experience with any of these places?

CarFax kinda shit the bed with my truck. long story, but cliff notes are i bought my truck abandoned in the middle of nowhere so i ran a CarFax to make sure nothing was up. said currently a Alberta vehicle, last registered here 5 years before i bought it, and was last registered outside of Alberta around 2001 i think it was

so whatever i bought it, went to register it, and the registries computer said that it was last registered out East, meaning it needed an out of province inspection which is hardcore everything needs to be perfect else you cant register the vehicle

long story short, i nicely showed them the CarFax papers stating that it was last registered here and they basically just said doesnt matter we dont care get the inspection done because our computers are always right. and this thing had a broken tail light, wipers were disconnected, etc

i ended up doing the work myself and getting my boss to pass the inspection, but CarFax was completely wrong about the vehicles history. i think it was kinda meant to be because nobody else would have gone through the work to get it to pass and it would have had to be a scrap vehicle

Wheen looking at a Car Fax Report, bear in mind, Car Fax only reports what has been reported to them, which means they may or may not be accurate. My secretary pulled a Car Fax report that showed no salvage history. When registered, title came back Branded. I did some research and discovered the vehicle was in an accident. I'll never forget, cuz the report from the insurance had a memo ref the driver filing a claim because the accident damaged her breast inplant. I called Car Fax to file a claim on their Guarantee and was told they were not liable because they can only report what has been reported to them.
A Car Fax is just a tool, Not 100% accurate 100% of the time.

i thought the guarantee was if they failed to report something major they buy the vehicle from you? not that i was going to do it because i paid like $650 for mine but i would be curious if they would have backed up that guarantee

When I filed a claim, I was told by Car Fax they report what is reported to them. I felt like I had a valid claim due to the fact the vehicle was totaled and had salvage history and they didn't report it and they stated they had no record of the incident and my claim was denied. Like I said earlier the report is something for reference, Not carved in stone. Their defense is "It Wasn't Reported to Them".
